These are what some of the words on the Kardex mean. Many, if not most of these are generally not filled in. I am aware of three different types, which have slightly differing information. The earliest ones have the following:
Fahrgest.-Nr.: Chassis
number
Motor-Nr.: Engine number
Getriebe-Nr.: Gearbox
number
Zündschloß-Nr.:
Ignition switch number/shift lock here also
Schlüssel-Nr.:
Key number (door on early cars)/glovebox key here also
Kar. angel. am: Date
the car was invoiced
ausgel. am : Delivery
date
Motor-Änd.-Nr.:
Replacement engine number
Getriebe-Änd.-Nr.:
Replacement gearbox number
Farbe: Exterior color
Polsterung: Upholstery
Garantie bis: Warranty
expiration
Armaturenbrett: Dashboard (color)
Teppich: Carpet
Himmel: Headliner
Sonderausführung: Special work performed
Sonderausstattung: Special equipment (options)
Händler: Dealer
Ort: City
Land : Country
Wagenbesitzer: Owner
Anschrift und Bem.:
Address and notes
Later Kardexes have
a couple of different fields and no longer had carpet, headliner and
dashboard:
Abnahme-Besch: on these Kardexes means the date that the customer/dealer received it, while
ausgel.am: completion date (Kar.angel.am is not on these Kardexes)
KD-Heft-Nr.: Service
book number
Kfz.-Brief Nr.: Title
number
Still later Kardexes have a couple more new fields and Sonderausführung and Sonderausstattung
are combined:
Reifenfabrikat (or Reifen-Fabrikat): Tire type
Wagenauslieferung: Car delivery
100,000 km am: 100,000 km achieved on
G.uhr Plakette: date a wrist watch and a 100.000km badge
are send to the owner in recognition of
driving 100.000km in a Porsche [translation by Wulf Moennich]
In addition a warranty
information was included at the bottom. Sometimes this continues onto the
back of the card.
