My Speedster, VIN 80338 - engine 34419, was purchased in 2000 from its 2nd owner, Guntram of German Auto Teknik in Santa Monica, CA. It is 99% restored with a few finishing touches waiting for this spring/summer (reinstalltion of the passenger grab handle, Reutter badge on the exterior and thats pretty much it. She is currently white with
black interior, was Speedster Blue with tan, I believe the kardex says. I used her as a daily driver in Los Angeles, until relocating her to the Bay Area around 2002. I was going to tow her on a flatbed from LA to SF, but Guntram insisted it'd be good for the car to drive her up. He was right, once I got her to SF she received a total rebuild of the enigne, transmission and brakes. Drive had her clattering like mad, cams were worn to shreds - not a happy trip. She has mostly been garaged since, with less than 1000mi since the
rebuild. A few other calamities struck, which are being worked out now (revolving around the electrical system, a battery and the after effects of depolarizing by mistakenly reversing the leads.)
