Since August last year (2003) I am the owner of this 356 T5
convertible (cabrio). The VIN number of this car is 153875,
originally sold in Germany and later (probably after 1964) moved
to the US. The first owner ordered the car as a special "kunde
farbe" the factory gave the following number (Glasurit KKU 724 )
which was a kind of dark green. Inside the car was delivered
with "Hellbraun" upholstery. Since then, the car changed to red.
The car was ordered with a lot of extras at the time, Antenna,
Headrests, safety belts, chromed wheels, fog lights, speakers
and the balance spring which was standard on the S90. It had a
1600 Super engine, which isn't with the car unfortunately. the
number of the engine was 87100.
The last owner who sold the car to me, started with restoring
the car, when he found it in front of a house were it was for
two years in the rain. I bought the car with all the part s in
boxes and some parts of the paint was already removed. Now it is
in a warm workshop, and almost removed from all the dirt, bondo
and bad repairs in her last 44 years. In a few weeks time she
will go her final cleaning when she will go to the sandblaster
and than we can start restoring it as she deserves!
These are the pictures August 2004. Will keep you posted!

My last update was from August this year and since
than I have worked hard to get all the dirt, bondo etc from the
car. Last week I got it back from the sandblaster and see, she
looks already much better. Clearly you can see repairs from the
past and some extra holes as well!
In the coming months, we will start with aligning the body to
check the original specifications and start with repairing the
inner frame for the floor. Than we will fit the new floor to the
body.
If you have any information of this car (maybe you
owned it or a friend of yours), please forward me the details. I
am very keen to know the previous owners and history! Also if you
information of the original engine (87100) or have a 1600 Super
engine case from 1960 in good condition, please let me know!
Air cooled greetings from The Netherlands!
