I
bought this car from a buddy who purchased this car to use as a
"blueprint" for his other Splitwindshield cars. He
bought the car from James Barrington aka "Gmünd
Meister" from San Francisco. He (James) bought the car from
the widow of the late Marshall West who owned the car since
1958!? He bought the car sometime in '90. The car has been, from
what I can tell from the documentation of expired registration
slips and in a folder of paperwork that came with the car in
Calif. since 1958 in the Bay area. It still has the black plates
that were issued.
I have owned the car since '93. I bought this car because I have
always wanted a "splitwindshield" Porsche. The car is
original! I want to sell it because I have a '53 Porsche cab
(#60385) in the paint shop right now and I want to concentrate
on this car insted. If I dont sell the coupe before I finish my
cab, then I am going to restore it also. I have the original
numbered block (20604) 1300cc that is waiting to be installed.
When I bought this coupe, it was a running and driving ( 1720
NPR big bore, Solex 40 P-11) car hence I did not take it apart.
I have "shown" this car and maybe you have seen it.
The original color is Adria Blue Metallic!!!
