This 1958 Speedster was import to the US through Hoffman's in New York and
little is known by the current owner of it's early history and owners. A
previous owner passed along information that the car was a former race car having
raced in Argentina and later in the US. The car's restoration is about 12 years
old, including the paint. The original color was ivory with red interior.
There are several items that are indications of it past race history, and they
include the roll bar, front and rear carrera brakes and a cutout in the engine
deck rain shield that was probably for oil cooler lines to an external
mounted oil cooler. All but one of the panels have matching number and it appears
to have the original floor pans.
The car is driven regularly, mostly on weekends and nice days.
The current owner would love to hear from any 356 Registry member who might
have any additional information or past photographs of this car. Thanks.
