| I'm a new member and this is my first 356 but it is NOT my first "old" car. After my last project a pan off restoration of a 1967 VW I saw a 63 356 in a Costco parking lot and could not get the car out of my head. I left a note on the car and figured that I would never hear from the owner, but he called me but sadly the car was not for sale. However he did give me some information about a place in Sacramento (where I live) called "Dawn's Restoration" and a guy named Ted Blake to talk to. Ted is a great guy and has been working and restoring 356's since 1960 but I waited too long to buy his 1963 Super 90 and he sold it to someone else. So after placing a "Wanted 356" e-mail on the list I get these pictures from a fellow member and I fell in love with it. I had been searching for about 90 days for the "right" car and I finaly found this 1960 Super Sunroof that was the real car for me.
It needs some work but it is a real solid car with lots of options and the original numbers matching unkinked hood, doors, and engine cover. The car looks to me and everyone that has seen it to have never been wrecked or any major damage. The car was owned by a one lady from June of 1978 through December of 2001 and has 106,377 miles on it verified by the paperwork supplied by the former owner. It was repainted Condor Yellow over the original Silver before the lady purchased it. The only things that are missing from the car is the original transmission (it was replaced by a "rebuilt" unit in 1985), the tool kit and headrests. I plan to take the car apart this Winter and have all of the rust repair done and have it ready for the Spring.
