I found Speedster #83595 sleeping in a garage in Denver in the summer of
2002. It had not been on the road for at least 15 years. The owner, who had
it since 1968, was not desperate to sell, so it took a couple of months to
negotiated a fair deal.

I
trailered it home to California where I re-awakened it and
sorted things
out. It has had one repaint to the current shade of non-descript
red, from
the original color of Fjord green.

This car is 99.75 rust free, and has never been crashed. It came with a
complete, original tool kit and all the delivery documents such as, service
booklet, owners manual, battery warranty, Reutter body book, etc. Every
number matches, except the engine, which is a replacement case due to a
thrown rod from street racing in 1963.

I've been in contact with the second owner, who owned it between 1963 and
1968. In those days he was good friends with George W. Bush, who was a
frequent passenger in this Speedster while attending Yale.
