Currently Signal Red/Black, originally Ivory/Black

I have been involved with the Porsche marque for over 20 years but mainly the six cylinder variety. Although I have always admired the 356 for aesthetic reasons I had never aspired to own one. Far too slow! However a kind offer from a friend to lend me a 1957 356 Coupe for a 4 day Porsche Club weekend in Napier, 5 hours drive from my home in Auckland, New Zealand, saw me hooked.

I immediately started searching for a car of my own and I settled on a Roadster as my model of choice. With help from John Willhoit in Long Beach I bought this car while on a holiday in the US in April 2006.

The car arrived in New Zealand in late May and unfortunately required new floors before it would pass the compliance testing. However that turned out to be an easy and reasonable inexpensive operation and the Roadster was registered at the end of July 2006.

Since then it has been a delight to own and use with only minor issues (those damn Zeniths) and has given a lot of pleasure and has led to a total 356 addiction. Although there are several Speedsters and one Convertible D in New Zealand, this is the only Roadster. [Read about Paul's 57 Carrera coupe]
