Original colour, Aquamarine/Red

As I said in my 61 Roadster summary I have developed a 356 addiction and this has led to a partially restored Carrera coupe joining the Roadster in the garage. This car arrived in May 2007 from Sweden and I first saw it when the container was opened (see picture). Plans are well underway to complete the restoration and have the 4-cam engine re-assembled. The Carrera is a 1500GS with a few GT options such as brakes and fuel tank.

In April 2008 the New Zealand 356 fraternity are holding our biennial ‘Carrera Down Under’ tour which is a two week event and includes several visitors from across the ditch (Australia) and hopefully a few from the US. This event is held alternatively in New Zealand and Australia. My aim is to have the Carrera ready for this event.

New Zealand has one other 4-cam, a 59 RHD Cabriolet and this is the only coupe here at the moment. Two other 4-cams have resided here, a Carrera 2 and a 59 GS/GT but unfortunately both have left our shores. (See Steve Terrien's listing of the 59 GS/GT).
