Owner: Anthony "Bruce" Duncan
Previous Owners: Gene Bussian, Bill FultonI bought the
car in April 2000 from Bill Fulton in Owosso, Michigan - about
an hour from Detroit. I was based in Midland, Michigan at the
time, working for Dow Corning and had been making the most of my
frequent trips to/from the US & Australia to stop off at
European Collectibles in Costa Mesa & check their stock.
However, I found this car for sale on the 356 Registry website,
and being just an hour away, I had to go check it out. The
pictures below were taken on the day that I initially went to
see the car, and are
probably the best picture of the car. Needless to say I was very
taken with it, and Bill proved to be a good guy with plenty of
information, & advice. I went away that day, claiming to need
time to think it over, but in reality, I knew I had to have it!
It's a '55 Coupe Continental, chassis no. #53403 and is by no
means an original car, it runs a 1600 engine & gearbox from a
'57 A, 15' rims, and since buying the car, I have
(sympathetically) converted it to 12volts. Although resprayed,
the car is still in it's original Silver colour & has the red
vinyl/corduroy interior. My plans for the car don't extend as
far as a full restoration, unless I do find myself with THAT
winning ticket. Otherwise, it's just a case of keeping the old
girl on the road, enjoying it, and improvements here & there.
Where possible I have replaced or plan to replace some parts
with original or quality repro, ie porsche (instead of VW) rims,
beehive lenses, rear reflectors, sunvisors, GT-style hood
straps, 12v Bosch Horns, etc.
Keep the Faith!
