I used to own a 1965C which I sold to another member, and
regretted that decision instantly. So I went in search for an
early A model to fill that hole in my garage. This is the
result: my 57 A T1 Coupé, a late T1 (with tear drops tail lights
unfortunately - just missed out on beehives), in Fjord green.
That color is a bit strange and takes some getting used to, but
it grows on you: My color blind friends love it, it changes a
lot depending on the ambient light as you can see in the
pictures. I bought that car in Vancouver Island from another
registry member, and drove it back to Seattle for shipping to
Tampa, FL. I doubt I could have purchased further from home if I
had tried!
The car was and still is a driver. It initially had 914 seat
belts, aftermarket steering wheel, a so-so interior and very
little brakes and clutch, creative wiring which started an
electrical fire later on, but it also has a big bore 912 engine,
which made it easy to forgive a lot of issues. That car GOES!!!
So far I have taken care of the mechanical issues, it now
brakes and runs pretty smoothly and I installed the period
correct steering wheel with horn ring, new horns, a late ZF
steering box for better feel, fixed my wiring harness meltdown
and will soon start working on the interior restoration. |
