After a year of restoration with the intent of making a vintage racer here are some pictures of my '57 356A (vin#100434). We left no stone unturned, but also went $30,000 over budget because good enough was not good enough. The only tip I can give for someone going through a conversion is to be careful because the money can get real out of hand real fast.

I started with a $9500 car and now have a total of $55,000 invested, I thought I was only going to spend about $15,000...whoops! I have already run this car in two VSCCA events and I am planning on running at least two more with it this year--unless I find a real nice Lotus 18 first. I have been racing modern formula cars and karts for ten years.

Believe it or not my car is still "technically" street legal but loud. The tires are Dunlop Vintage race tires (not really legal) and the exhaust is completely open but man does this car get the looks. If I ever got stopped by the cops I do have a custom cherry bomb exhaust for the header setup, but I like it race car loud.

The deck lid is from Robert Kahn in California and the mirror is from
(you guessed it) Warren Eads of SpyderSports.

Here's a list of just some of the work and features:

  •  GT Interior
