"Christmas Tree" SC

Bill Buck

Bill Buck's 64 SC at Poco Diablo (front)Back in 1969 I had a C-coupe and sold it prior to getting married. About two years ago we thought it would be fun to have an old car and started looking for a '40 Ford pick-up or a '58 Corvette. Well, after looking for a while and no luck finding a really good one I figured that maybe another C-coupe might be just the ticket.

I looked through the classifieds for a month or so with no luck. Then I found an old 1991 magazine in with my flying stuff. The magazine had a 356 in it and a list of clubs. I wrote to all the clubs that were listed and received only a couple of responses, one of them being The Registry. I joined The Registry and the local 356 Porsche club in Orange County, Ca. to meet knowledgeable people after finding that all the good cars are kept pretty much within the circle of those who know.

I find it really amazing the number of different definitions of words like driver, concour, etc. So after doing a lot of listening to educate myself I started my search at the West Coast Holidays and other 356 functions. After pestering some of the members for almost two years and being told that I was too picky, I found a car in my own back yard with the help of Bob Campbell. The car is a 1964 SC sunroof (#130264), black with red interior, that came from the collection of Sandy Sigoloff.

Some call it a Christmas tree because of all the options, sunroof, headrests, outside air temperature, sweep second clock, signal seeking blaupunkt, fresh air blower, side spears etc. The car shows well and is a very nice driver. Its been as much fun as I remember (memory fade) and I would like to thank some really nice (read: patient) friends I have met and so many others that gave of their time.
