I am the third owner ( member #17967) and have known this
particular car as long as I can remember, it had belonged to my
mothers best friend and as a kid I would ride in the back where
only a kid could fit. The car had spent much of it's time in
Placerville California, so the rust was kept to minimum.
Unfortunately the car and I were on separate paths for a while,
she ended up in Washington state and I ended up in Florida. Fate
would bring us back together in 1997 when sadly my mothers best
friend had passed away, but left the car to me. Not quite the
way I wanted to acquire the car but I made a promise to a great
woman and a great car to restore her. First thing to do was to
pick it up in Spokane Washington. It wasn't drivable at the
time, so I trailered it back to Orlando Florida. As soon as I
got back I put it in the shop to get it up and running, didn't
take much. Started talking to body shops and getting prices on
restoring her. When I got the quotes, I took a deep breath and
started saving. Finally got it in the shop May of 2005. Took a
while to find the right guy to do the work and to part with the
big check I was going to be writing. Gary and Jason Stratton of
Stratton Motorsports have been doing the work and are meticulous
workers and are doing an incredible job. Gary also has a 356 of
his own, which is one of the reasons I chose them. It will be
well worth the money. While it's been in the shop, I
disassembled the motor and rebuilt it, replacing many parts. The
good thing is I didn't have any parts left over when I put it
back together. The car and the motor should be back together
soon. The bodies just about done and I'm having disc brakes
applied front and rear before it goes to paint. The interior,
I'll start on as soon as I get it back. Enclosed are some pics
of the engine before and after and the body before with all her
dents and current.
