This is the story of the Red Ryder a very special 1963 Super 90
Sunroof Coupe. The car was purchased new, in Germany, on May 8th
1963 by a serviceman named Mr. Shelby Pitts from Danville
California. The car is a Euro spec car with the following

The car at some point moved to the Portland, OR area and was
purchased by Mary and Todd Webb in 1973. Mary who named the car
the Red Ryder after the famous cowboy star of the 30's, 40's and
50's remembers the car being 10 years old with just 5,000 miles
on it and paying the hefty sum, at the time, of $5,000.00. The
Webb's prepared the car to compete in the 1977 Parade held in
San Diego CA. and won second place in their class. Still, to
this day, Mary has the award for her second place winner. In
1983 after divorcing from Todd, Mary decided to sell the Red
Ryder and did not want the car to remain in the area so she took
out a classified ad in the New York Times. The car was then
purchased by a New York lawyer Mr. Carl Lobell, now 20 years old
and with just 22,000 miles for the tidy sum of $22,000.00. Since
Mr. Lobell's ownership the car has changed hands a number of
times and has been owned by a number of collectors until I
purchased it in 2003 now with only 36,000 miles.
After buying the Red Ryder I managed to track down and talk to
all the previous owners with the exception of Mr. Pitts. But
what was most satisfying was contacting Mary who was so excited
to hear from me and the Red Ryder after 20 years. Like the Red
Ryder, Mary is a very special lady and I'm glad I got to know
her through this special little car.
